On Wednesday January 23 the Coronazaal hosted the final of The Golden Lightbulbs second challenge and level had clearly been raised. 22 participants presented their innovative ideas and initial business plan to the jury in 90 second pitches. The high level and the drive that the contestants showed in their projects inspired the organization and the jury to, on the spot, add two more prizes to the existing five awards.

The diversity of ideas and the variance in development stages at which these are made it, once again, a very tough job for the jury to come to a judgement. Ultimately the 500 euro awards were handed out to Bas Schleijpen and Lars Middel for CodeSkillz, Team Light2 and Koen de Raad with MOD3L Urban Data Visualisation. Two of the winners from challenge 1 continued their winning streak:  Kayle Knops with Pressure Sensitive Keyboards and Tim Wilschut form Ratio with their project Six Blind Men and the Elephant.

Two additional prizes of 250 euro were awarded to Paul Kemper for Contesto and Helder Reis with IconicDV. Two acknowledgement awards that were created after the jury’s deliberation. An encouragement that went out to all the participants: Keep on going for it, develop your business skills and chase your dreams!

Now that the second challenge has finished we immediately proceed to Challenge 3 “Serious Business”. In this challenge contestants will work on a extensive business plan in the form of a 10-pager. Deadline for sending in this business proposal is March 21, 2019 after which nine finalists will be selected who will compete in the Grand Finale on April 3 for 3.000, 5.000 and 10.000 euro rewards and the prestigious title ‘Golden Lightbulb 2019’.
