WHAT IS THE GOLDEN LIGHTBULB CHALLENGE?

Have you ever had an idea for something and wished it existed or was for sale, but you have no clue where to start to make it a reality? Or do you already have a specific plan in place that you want to develop into a business? If so, then participate in The Golden Lightbulb challenge ! The Golden Lightbulb is a program that challenges you to find out if your idea can be turned into a successful business. In three challenges, running from mid-October 2018 till the 3rd of April 2019, you will take a number of steps to develop your idea into a serious business proposal. In each of the three challenges you can win prize money ranging from 250 euro in challenge 1 up to 10.000 euro as the winner of The Golden Lightbulb 2019.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Golden Lightbulb consists of three challenges. In Challenge 1 it is all about your idea. After this round we will take you a step further in turning your idea into reality. In Challenge 2 you will start investigating the feasibility of your idea. During Challenge 3 you will be working towards a concrete business plan. We offer coaching and guidance which will increase with every challenge. You can enter the program at every challenge. So it is not obligatory to have competed in previous challenges in order to enter the next challenge. Click on the challenges below for more information or if you want to enter the challenge.

CHALLENGE 1: YOUR BRIGHT IDEA

Submit your idea! A description, a sketch, anything goes. Every idea is welcome!
October 22, 2018 – November 23, 2018
Prizes: 8 x 250 euro

CHALLENGE 2: PUT YOUR IDEA TO THE TEST

Follow our webinars and investigate the potential of your idea.
December 5, 2018 – January 18, 2019. Pitch event on January 23, 2019
Prizes: 5 x 500 euro

CHALLENGE 3: SERIOUS BUSINESS

Develop your idea into a full blown business proposal with the guidance of our experts.
Pre-registration for Power Charge program before January 31, 2019. Deadline submission March 12, 2019 Grand Finale on April 3, 2019.
Prizes: 3.000, 5.000 and 10.000 euro

GRAND FINALE

The nine best business plans of Challenge 3 will proceed to the Grand Finale on April 3, 2019. In the finale they will battle for prizes of 3.000 euro, 5.000 euro and 10.000 euro. And of course, for the prestigious title: winner of The Golden Lightbulb 2019. During the grand finale, the participants will pitch parts of their business plan, for which they will get special pitch training in advance.

WHO CAN ENTER?

Everybody over 18 years old, living, studying or working in the Brainport Region, may enter The Golden Lightbulb challenge. The Brainport Region consists of the municipalities of Asten, Bergeijk, Best, Bladel, Cranendonck, Deurne, Eersel, Eindhoven, Geldrop-Mierlo, Gemert-Bakel, Heeze-Leende, Helmond, Laarbeek, Nuenen, Oirschot, Reusel-De Mierden, Someren, Son en Breugel, Valkenswaard, Veldhoven and Waalre.

THEMATIC FOCUS

During the first two challenges all ideas are welcome to enter The Golden Lightbulb. We do have special attention for concepts in the fields of health, circular economy and high-tech innovations. However, every submission has equal chance to win the prize money.
In Challenge 3 the focus will be on ideas in the fields of Lifesciences & Health, High Tech Systems, Mobility and Biobased Economy. These are the themes and specializations of Bright Move’s organizing partners. Ideas and concepts that fall outside these areas will be forwarded to partner organizations which are better equipped to advice and guide you.
